‘Après-mountain’ activities to make the most of summer

When a day of hiking, cycling or activities in nature parks comes to an end, many families are looking for more than just the sofa and dinner. In summer, family plans in Andorra don’t end when you take off your boots at the door. On the contrary: new moments to share, disconnect and laugh together begin. Here are some different suggestions to round off your days in the mountains with real and surprising activities, ideal for complete, screen-free getaways at Els Llacs Mountain Apartments.

Fun with children in Andorra

Little ones always love going to the park. In Andorra, there are many options to suit all tastes. In Andorra la Vella, the Parc Central is the largest and most complete, with games and lawns. In the rest of the country, you will find similar areas, well maintained and shaded, ideal for the afternoon.
But if you’re looking for something different, try the Palau de Gel in Canillo, which also opens in summer for family ice skating sessions.

Relax after a day in the mountains

There are gentle ways to continue the day without falling into total inactivity. One of the favourites is to visit Caldea, where the thermal waters allow you to unwind effortlessly. The children’s spa, designed for children between the ages of 3 and 8, offers guided games in a thermal environment, while parents take a break in the spa.
If you prefer something closer, you can book the spa at Park Piolets MountainHotel & Spa, part of our group. It offers family access at certain times and massages for children.
A way to relax as a family after a busy day.

Without leaving Els Llacs Mountain Apartments

When you feel like staying ‘at home’, you can also make the most of your time as a family. In our apartments, with hotel services, we have a play area for the little ones, but we also have a spa with mountain views, which you can enjoy as a family.
And when night falls, just step out onto the balcony to gaze at the stars. Being in the Pyrenees, far from urban centres and with very little light pollution, makes observing the sky a simple and magical experience. If you have binoculars or an astronomy app, even better. You don’t always have to go out for it to be a special day 😉.

Cultural activities for after the mountains

Cultural heritage also has its place in family plans in Andorra. Nearby, in Canillo, you can visit the Motorcycle Museum, with a collection of classic motorcycles that usually surprises both adults and children. If you continue down towards Encamp, you will find the National Automobile Museum, with historic vehicles in perfect condition.
For families who love cycling, the modern BiciLab Andorra (in the centre of Andorra la Vella) offers an interactive and highly visual tour of the world of cycling, from its origins to its current role in the country.
And if you’re looking for something more dynamic, you’ll enjoy the summer dramatised tours, where historical characters will guide you on night-time walks full of interesting facts.

After the mountains, the best part begins

In summer, the days in Andorra don’t end when you return from your route. There is plenty to do and share with your family, even without leaving Els Llacs Mountain Apartments. If you are looking for a place where everything is within reach: nature, relaxation and activities for everyone, now is the perfect time to organise your summer holiday in Andorra.

Today, you can visit various rooms that explain part of the history and where some of the most important decisions for the country have been taken. You can visit the Room of the Lost Steps, a noble room decorated with original murals from the 16th century. As well as the session room, the kitchen and symbolic elements such as the bell used to summon the Plenary and the Cupboard of the Seven Keys, which houses key historical documents of Andorra. The Rossell Forge is an interactive museum to discover how iron production worked between the 17th and 19th centuries. A real forge that operated from 1842 to 1876 has been reconstructed to show the whole process through an interactive experience with audiovisuals. You will also be able to witness live the use of the hammer, a key part of the old iron production. It is located on the outskirts of La Massana, in the northern valley of Andorra.

The history of electricity in Andorra

Andorra’s energy production is closely linked to the country’s economic growth in the 1930s. The MW electricity museum explores concepts such as energy, electric current and how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station, as well as showing the evolution of electrification in Andorra during the 20th century. The last room offers interactive experiments to understand electrical phenomena, and exhibits the two original generators of the power station, installed in 1934.
