Walking routes for children in Incles Valley

Just imagine: you wake up at Els Llacs Mountain Apartments, you open the window and the fresh morning air rushes in. In front of you, the mountains remind you that you have come to Andorra to spend time with your family, far from the heat of the city and screens. Nearby, the Vall d’Incles awaits you with its unique surroundings and trails for all levels.
Hiking in the Incles Valley is a highly recommended activity for enjoying nature without great physical demands. Located just a few minutes’ drive from our apartments, it combines high mountain landscapes with spaces that invite you to walk at a leisurely pace.

A perfect environment for walking with children

The Camí de l’Obac, in the Incles Valley, is an ideal easy hike for all ages. It is about 3 kilometres long and follows the course of the river with a gentle slope, making it easily adaptable to different physical levels. Along the way, the landscape alternates between stretches of forest and open areas that allow you to contemplate the valley in all its splendour.
The route ends at the bottom of the valley, where other itineraries to lakes and peaks begin.

The return trip can be made along the same trail or by road

In summer, access to private vehicles is restricted and an electric train runs along this road; it is advisable to buy tickets at the start of the valley to ensure a seat.
At the bottom of the valley and along the road, you will find a few restaurants where you can take a break and recharge your batteries before continuing your day.

Hiking in the Incles Valley for all levels

Hiking in the Incles Valley is not exclusively for families with young children. The more adventurous with a good level of fitness can extend the route to more demanding destinations, such as Lake Juclà, the largest in Andorra, the Cabana Sorda refuge or Lake Siscaró. These options require more time and effort, but they reward you with spectacular views and a deeper connection with the mountains.

Practical tips for the outing

To ensure a comfortable and safe experience, it is important to prepare a few basic items:

  • Comfortable and sturdy footwear: preferably hiking boots or mountain shoes with good soles.
  • Sun protection: even on cloudy days, the altitude can intensify radiation.
  • Water and some food: a light picnic or fruit to replenish your energy.
  • Layered clothing: in the mountains, the temperature can change quickly, especially in the morning and late afternoon.
  • Small backpack: to carry the essentials without carrying too much weight.

It is advisable to check the weather forecast before setting off and to wear clothing suitable for the conditions on the day.

A plan that combines nature and comfort

Thanks to the proximity of our accommodation to the Incles valley, you can organise your morning hike and return in time for a relaxed lunch or a quiet afternoon recharging your batteries in our spa, included with your booking. Our apartments, located at the foot of the Grandvalira slopes, offer everything you need to complete the experience: fully equipped kitchens, spacious living rooms to relax in and comfortable bedrooms with mountain views.

Hiking in the Incles Valley is much more than just physical activity

It is an opportunity to share moments in the open air. Due to its accessibility and beauty, it is ideal for both weekend getaways and longer holidays. A simple plan, suitable for everyone, that always invites you to return.
Would you like to enjoy this experience with your family? Book your stay at Els Llacs Mountain Apartments now and start each day with the mountains at your feet.

Mountain getaway for the August bank holiday Swap the sea for the peaks!

More and more people are opting for active holidays in the mountains in summer. And it’s no coincidence: the fresh air, open landscapes and feeling of constant movement have a revitalising effect that is hard to match. Today, we’ll tell you why the mountains, especially Andorra, are the ideal destination for the August bank holiday.

Temperatures you’ll appreciate

Mountain valleys maintain milder temperatures than the coast, even on the hottest days. The natural coolness, especially in the morning and evening, is pleasant and encourages you to get out and about without the heat being an obstacle. That’s why those looking for active holidays in the mountains find the perfect balance between energy and well-being in destinations such as Andorra.

Hiking with views and without rushing

You don’t need to be an expert to follow a route through meadows, lakes or forests. Andorra offers well-marked trails for all levels. From gentle walks that can be done with the family to more demanding climbs, each day becomes a different experience. Every step and every bend offers a new panorama. Walking in the mountains is a way to connect with yourself while your body gets active without you even noticing.
And Els Llacs Mountain Apartments is the perfect starting point. Best of all, the views here are just as impressive at night as they are during the day, thanks to the low light pollution.

Alternatives for those who can’t sit still

In addition to hiking, there are countless options for those who can’t imagine a holiday without some action:

  • Mountain bike trails on trails or road bikes.
  • Adventure parks to get your adrenaline pumping in the heart of nature.
  • Via ferrata routes, where vertigo becomes a personal challenge.

Active holidays in the mountains have that element of surprise: every day can be different from the last. And there is always something new to do, even if it rains or the fog rolls in.

Quality time with whoever you want

The natural environment has the ability to slow down the pace and lift your spirits. Whether you are travelling as a couple, with family or with friends, you will find that conversations flow, mobile phones are forgotten in pockets and the days stretch out without looking at the clock.
A mountain getaway for the August bank holiday is an invitation to reconnect, to create memories that won’t fade away at the end of summer. And if you also stay at Els Llacs Mountain Apartments at the foot of Grandvalira, you only need to open the door to be in the middle of the landscape.

You’ll come back with your batteries recharged

People who choose active holidays in the mountains usually come home with more energy, in a better mood and with a clear mind.
There’s no need to do anything extraordinary: just let the environment do its part. Walking on the grass, lying down to watch the clouds, climbing a peak without rushing or dining outdoors are simple but powerful pleasures.
And yes, when you return, while everyone else is sharing photos of crowded beaches, you’ll be telling them that you reached the summit, saw marmots and slept like a log under a starry sky.

Are you up for it this long weekend?

This 15th of August, you have the perfect excuse to swap the beach for the mountains. If you like hiking, fresh air and the silence of the mountains, Els Llacs Mountain Apartments await you. Close to everything that matters and far enough away to truly disconnect.
This summer, try something different. Active holidays in the mountains are not just an alternative: they’re a great plan.

Each season has its own charm

One of the great attractions of staying in Andorra all year round is that each season offers a different side of the mountain.

– In spring the mountain awakens

It is a peaceful time, with trails that invite you to walk leisurely and landscapes that gradually blossom. If you like to go for a walk, do gentle routes or simply enjoy the silence, you will love spring in Andorra. From our flats you can easily access paths. Moreover, the weather is ideal: sunny days, pleasant temperatures and no crowds.

– Summer of fresh air and living nature

Summer in the mountains is not usually sweltering. Here the temperatures are milder and the environment encourages you to spend the day outdoors. It is the ideal time to go hiking, cycling or discover lakes and viewpoints. You will also find proposals for families, such as adventure parks with outdoor activities. Everything is close to our flats, without the need for long journeys. An ideal plan for a quiet and active holiday in the heart of nature.

– Warm colours and absolute calm in autumn

The landscapes are tinged with ochre and golden tones that offer unique postcards for photography lovers. Temperatures are still pleasant. You can take the opportunity to go on short walks, breathe in the fresh air or even go shopping for the latest novelties and trends for the coming winter in Andorra’s shopping centres and shops. It is also a good time to visit museums and enjoy gastronomic tours of Andorra’s restaurants.

– In winter, snow is the star attraction

During the cold months, Grandvalira Resorts comes alive with the arrival of the snow. Our flats are just a few minutes from the slopes, which makes them a perfect base for a few days of skiing or snowboarding. Winter here has a special charm, with that touch of a warm refuge in the mountains.

Els Llacs, more than just tourist flats in Andorra
Sometimes it’s not a question of going too far, but of finding a place where everything fits together. Els Llacs Mountain Apartments is that corner in the Pyrenees where you can go at any time of the year, whether on skis, with mountain boots or just wanting to stop for a while.

Because, although the ski season is over this year, the charm of the mountain continues beyond April. And we will be here, waiting for you to complete your experience in Andorra.

3 lagos de Andorra

Three lakes in Andorra to splash around in summer

Summer is in full swing and the good weather invites you to go out and enjoy the great outdoors. In Andorra, there are so many options that it’s hard to choose. And of course, nature and the mountains are the stars of the show! To make the most of them, we suggest 3 hikes to discover some of Andorra’s lakes. Perhaps you already know them or maybe they are new to you. Best of all, there is one for every type of hiker.

Tristaina lakes: the perfect adventure with children

These three lakes are located at an altitude of 2,300 metres: Estany Primer, Estany del Mig and Estany de Més Amunt. This is one of the most popular summer hikes in Ordino, an area that has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Perfect for the whole family, it is classified as moderate difficulty. It takes approximately 40 minutes to walk from the access point to the first lake.
If you dare to reach the 3 lakes of Tristaina, the circular walk is 4.40 kilometres long and takes approximately 3 hours to be completed. It has a gradient of 200 metres, with ascents and descents until you reach Estany de Més Amunt, which is the only one that allows bathing during the summer.
The starting point is Coma de Arcalís. You can only get there before 8.30 am by car, on foot or by taking the cable car (for a fee). From mid-June to mid-September, the road to the Coma de Arcalís is closed from 8.30am to 5pm and only allows access on foot or by bicycle.

Cabana Sorda Lake near Els Llacs Mountain Apartments

The Cabana Sorda Lake is located in the Incles Valley, about 15 minutes by car from our appartments. The walk to the lake is 2.76 km long, with a difference in altitude of 470 metres, and is classified as a route of moderate difficulty. Some of the climbs are demanding, but the scenery is wonderful. The excursion runs through woods and meadows and offers spectacular views of the whole valley of Canillo. In some open areas, you will be able to see the ski slopes of El Tarter and Soldeu, as well as the peaks that surround the valley.
The start of the trail to reach Cabana Sorda is halfway along the Incles Valley road. You can get there on foot after leaving your car in the car park at the start of the valley, as the road is closed to traffic in summer.

The Estany de la Nou: crossing a nature reserve

This is a much more challenging route, recommended for those in good physical condition for walking in the mountains. It is 7.1 km long and has a positive difference in altitude of 1151m. It is located in the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, one of the 3 natural parks of Andorra and the only one in the Pyrenees declared a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO. This lake’s waters are not as cold as those of other lakes, as they are fed by groundwater from the subsoil, which has a higher temperature. One of the access points is on the Comella road in Andorra la Vella, which can be reached by car.

Fun continues when you come down the mountain

Andorra is an ideal destination for nature lovers and hikers, offering trails for all levels. And the experience doesn’t end when you come down the mountain. You can complete your hiking routes to Andorra’s lakes with a wide variety of activities. From relaxing in thermal spas such as Caldea, to exploring the rich heritage in museums or cultural tours, or simply enjoying open-air festivals and concerts or the country’s gastronomy.
Add experiences and enjoy the best rest in Els Llacs Mountain Apartments.

Easy dog-friendly trails in Andorra: 3 perfect options for you and your pet

Summer is here! And it’s the perfect time for those who want to spend some quality time with their pets in the countryside.
Andorra is a great place to come and enjoy the mountains, which hide some incredible places to go with your dog. From routes for those who like to go out and test themselves on the most complicated slopes to those who prefer a more leisurely walk. Both options have one thing in common: wherever you go, you’ll enjoy the surroundings.

3 easy dog walks for everyone

We show you ways to have fun with your pet in Andorra with three easy routes so you can go whether you have a large, small or senior dog. They are ideal for enjoying nature effortlessly and ensuring your dog is comfortable and safe. Don’t leave anyone at home and experience unforgettable moments with your faithful friend in these beautiful landscapes!

Trekking to l’Estany Primer de Pessons

The first excursion is near Els Llacs Mountain Apartments, in the Grau Roig sector of Grandvalira. It is a good option for an easy hike with your dog and to discover a mountain lake located at an altitude of 2300 metres.
Duration: approximately 1.30 hours
Difficulty level: easy to moderate
Distance: 1.5 km
Start at the car park in the Cubil area, where you will find the signs that will take you through the forest to the lake. As the climb is not very difficult, you can observe nature while your dog enjoys discovering an environment different from his own. Once you reach Primer de Pessons lake, you can stop with your dog at the refuge’s restaurant. To go back down, you can go back down the same way you came up or return along the forest track. If you are up for it, a good option is to reach the other lakes of Pessons, although from here the route is somewhat harder.

Inter-parish path from Prats to Engolasters

This route is much longer, but has hardly any gradient. You will enjoy an accessible trail that has it all: Romanesque churches, breathtaking views, forest and rest points.
Duration: 4 hours
Difficulty: easy
Distance: 11.8 km
It is called inter-parish because it crosses Canillo, Encamp and Escaldes. As Els Llacs Mountain Apartments is in Canillo, we recommend you start here from the church of Sant Miquel de Prats to get to Sant Miquel d’Engolasters. Although it is not difficult at all, because you will hardly notice the 200 metres of difference in altitude, you should plan to walk 4 hours with your dog on the way there and 4 more on the way back. In addition, of course, you should bring enough water and food for everyone. In this article you will find tips for hiking with your dog in the mountains.

The Comapedrosa interpretative circuit

This circular hike is ideal for the whole family, as it is highly recommended for the youngest members of the family. It is located in the Comapedrosa Natural Park, in the parish of La Massana.
Duration: 1.30 hours
Difficulty: easy
Distance: 1.2 km
On this walk you will follow 10 panels that will help you to get to know nature at close quarters, to identify the environment and the terrain. While you follow the indications, your pet will also enjoy an outdoor excursion. It starts at the picnic area of the Pollós river and ends at the Arinsal dam.

You can come to Els Llacs Mountain Apartments with your dog
